1935 Wufuyang's first packaging
for stockings |
|
Wufuyang Knitting Co. is the first sock factory to be established in Taiwan with its history tracing back to the Japanese Occupation Era. In the early 1930's , the company's founder Mr. Wu Nai Yang observed that there was a market for socks in Taiwan so he purchased a few hand-cranked sock machines from Shanghai and hired master craftsmen to help manufacture ladies' silk stockings. From then on, socks have become an inseparable part of the Wu family. In 1936, in memory of his late father, Mr. Wu Nai Yang combined his father's and his own name and officially registered his sock factory under the name "Wufuyang".
For over 80 years Wufuyang Knitting Co. has focused only on one thing: the production of high-quality socks. Contrary to other socks factories that often subcontract many production processes to other satellite factories to save cost and cut corners, Wufuyang believes the only way to produce the most comfortable socks is to process the entire sock production chain directly: from yarn processing, sock designing, sock knitting, sock boarding to packaging. Wufuyang has already produced more than 100 million pairs of socks for people worldwide, and when all these socks are joined together the distance exceed the circumference of Earth!

In 2012, with the support of the New Taipei City Government, Wufuyang Co. established a sock museum and a smart phone application to promote the educational and cultural value of sock knitting in Taiwan. The museum records the history of four generations of sock makers and their passion for socks. Through open production lines and guided tours, visitors can have a better understanding of how socks are made. Furthermore, visitors can experience the joy of making their personalized socks or scarf by using hand-cranked socks machine from 100 years ago. Through branding, innovative design, technical improvements, and customer service, Wufuyang Co. aspires to continue its tradition of making the most comfortable legwear for generations to come.
